6 Months in the Book - The Journey Continues
In my initial post, a couple days back, I mentioned how I was making lifestyle changes in order to create a more balanced life for myself. One of my main areas of emphasis was to start a physical fitness program and regain some semblance of shape.
Afterall, I had reached a record weight of 210 lbs and at 5' 7.5", I wasn't cutting the most impressive figure. I also found that performing the normal activities of daily living was becoming a chore and my energy levels were depleted.
In January, the 1st to be exact, I began my fitness regime incorporating daily yoga sessions and performing some form of cardio exercise at least three times a week. I'm now up to working out at least six times a week, which includes yoga daily, weights three times a week, some cycling and road running, which is my newest interest.
Well I'm happy to say that I've been successful in reaching my goal weight, actually I'm a wee bit below it, and my fitness level is getting close to rivaling the levels I had in my twenties.
Although, I'm happy with my progress, I'm still concerned about falling off the wagon. This isn't the first time I've had success with a fitness routine to then eventually fall back into the same bad habits.
What I can say about this time is that my approach is different. I'm changing my overall lifestyle and not just focusing on one specific goal, which I feel can be problematic because once you reach the final goal it's easy to feel that the journey is over.
After I finished my ride early this morning, I went ahead and snapped a quick photo to commemorate the occasion.
